Introduction
The purposes of writing this article are below:
- For me who wants to memorize myself who was struggled with getting a job after retirement of military service as an officer
- For younger friends who are about to finish the military services
Just before I retired, I had no idea. Although I majored in electronic engineering and had a lisence of Engineer Radio Telecommunication Equipment, these were useless. it was difficult and almost impossible for me to go through the first Stage of entering to major companies.
I failed to pass a document screening. Therefore, I'd decided to change my career to Software....
Main
I'm going to start to work for LG CNS. it took 18 months after retirement and studied myself for 6 months. the best luck that I have was that I joined in Samsung Softer ware Academy For Youth Program for 12 months.
From SSAFY, I could study to Software with well-planned curriculum. Timing was perfectly coincided because I finished the military services at 2020 June 30 and I started SSAFY at 2020 July 7. However, I would like to tell you in this article about term that I studied myself, not about SSAFY.
After SSAFY(after 2021 June 30 ), I had a triplex plan to work for major companies in terms of license, Coding study, writing letters of self-introduction.
First of all, I planned to acquire engineer information processing. The beauty of getting it was that there was SQLD test between written test and practical test. SQL was one of the subjects of engineer information processing so it was sequentially very efficient.
Second, I solved a algorithm problem everyday from programming solving sites such as BaekJoon. not just any problem, I followed reliable curriculum. I'll uploaded site URL below. For me, it was difficult so the speed was slow. But I tried to understand it perfectly and studied steadily with trust that I can make it. After solving every problem in sites, my teer of Baekjoon was Gold 3 and passed the Coding tests of LG CNS and DB inc. it took 4 months.
Third, I wrote one resume once a week with study group member. I applied for Shinhan Bank, Samsung SDI, LG CNS, DB inc in September. Thanks to Getting job support center of SSAFY, I had my document fixed and got information about how to write. the most important thing was not to prepare documents alone.
I passed the First Stage of Samsung SDI, LG CNS, DB INC and failed ShinHan Bank.
I did three things everyday for 4 months. Also I had part-time job which was teaching children Math, Society and English aged between elemenraty school and middle school. To achieve triplex goal, I spent the busiest 4 months.
l am currently waiting for the final result of LG CNS. I failed the Coding Test of Samsung SDI and gave off the final interview of DB INC cuz of internship of LG CNS. I'm convinced good result because I did my best.
Conclusion
I would say that the key of getting a job is based in well-planning skill and steady. I had nothing when I just retired and I was 27. But I started new challenge to go education center and studied again from the bottom and started new career. When I looked back 1 year ago, It was best choice to change my career.
So I would like to tell you who read this article after retirement of the army, Don't be afraid of challenges with worries about ages and have a belief that you can do everything.
I was not a honor student and studied not hard when I was young, I started studying after 26. I made it successful so you could do it!!

LG CNS's coding test consists of 4 problems. I solved three (1,2,4).
- number 1
: simple circulation problem. the question was how to sum row and column.
- number 2
: permutation or combination problem
- number 3
: full search problem (lack of time )
- number 4
: implementation problem ( it took one and half hour)
DB coding Test was held IBM English center using Cospro
I was careless because I thought that it would be easy. but It was challenging.
New kinds of problems made me freak out. the time was 1 hour. I tried to solve easy questions. if you know lambda, there'll be no problem. I solved 8 of 10 questions.
